First Race of 2015!

I FINALLY have a race on my calendar in the relatively near future: my first race of 2015 will be the Presidio 10 Miler on April 12th! I will be running with Taylor, and it will be my first time participating in this event.

I am looking forward to trying out a new Bay Area race. The course will coverΒ some of the most beautiful parts of San Francisco, including running over the Golden Gate Bridge! It will be a challenge, though, with lots of hills through the Presidio. This will be a great training race as I prepare to take on the San Francisco Marathon in July.

Speaking of…official training for the marathon will begin in just 2 weeks! Yikes, I can’t believe it is that time already! Since the beginning of the new year, I’ve been working on building a good running base. Keeping a running schedule has been more challenging than ever as I recently started an internship at a gym, but I’m hoping all of the extra strength training and conditioning I have been doing will benefit my running!

  1. So exciting! It’s always fun adding races to your schedule. A 10-miler will be a great start! I’ve actually never run a 10-mile race myself. The ones around here have never fit into my training plans very well.

    • I’ve never run a 10 miler either…so automatic PR! πŸ˜€ I always love having a race on my calendar to keep me motivated, especially during the loooong weeks of training for a full marathon!

  2. eek! Exciting! The 10 miler event must be one of my favorites. It really tests your speed and endurance. I don’t think I could set a summer marathon on my schedule. Heat and I just do not mesh well. You must be tough! Looking forward to following your journey there.

    • This will be my first 10 mile race! I’m really excited to try out the distance, it’s long enough to be challenging, but not overly taxing. Ah, well San Francisco is not that warm in the summer! The temps usually top out in the 60’s, so a summer marathon isn’t too bad here πŸ™‚ Thank you for reading!

  3. I love the 10 mile distance! It’s got the perfect balance between not being too much to take on but still a good challenge. And this race sounds beautiful! We are planning a trip to San Francisco next April so I’ll be on the lookout for a race to squeeze into our trip πŸ™‚

    • Yes, that is what I am thinking! I’ve never raced that distance, but I always enjoy my 10 mile training runs. How exciting!! I’ll let you know if this one is a good choice! Last year, the RNR SF half marathon took place in April as well, so keep a look out for that one too! πŸ˜€
