My boyfriend said this to me the other day and I love it! Train to condition your body, eat more of the right foods for maximum health and performance, and sleep to recover and recharge. I’m going to adopt this as my official mantra for 2014!
I’ve had a severe head cold for over two weeks now, putting a kink in my training. When I can’t run, I resort to making lists of races I want to run and planning my running future. I’ve ended up with a crazy idea to try and run a race every month this year! (Stay tuned for aforementioned listing!)
I want to run a marathon in the first half of the year, and I had originally hoped I would be ready for the LA Marathon on March 9. However, my training has taken a backseat for over 2 weeks now. I’m on the mend, I’ve done a few short runs and yoga, but I want to be really prepared for my next marathon. March 9th is just a lil’ too soon for 26.2.
Not a big deal though. Instead of LA, I’ve been looking at a full marathon in late Spring or in to the summer. This will allow me to continue building a strong running base until I set a date. I’m going to focus on half marathon and shorter distance races for the next few months, while simultaneously training for a full. I’ve studied the 2014 race calender intensely, and have come up with a few races I would be interested in running.
I present to you the List, as promised!
January 12th: Hot Chocolate 15K
January 19th: RNR Arizona 1/2 Marathon
What’s up with February, I can’t seem to find much going on???
March 23rd: Oakland Running Festival (races of all distances)
April 6th: RNR San Francisco 1/2 Marathon
May 4th: O.C. Marathon (full or 1/2)
May 10th: Mermaid Run 1/2 Marathon (East Bay)
June 1st: RNR San Diego (full or 1/2)
June 21st: RNR Seattle (full or 1/2)
June 22nd: See Jane Run 1/2 Marathon
July 20th: Napa to Sonoma 1/2 Marathon
July 27th: San Francisco Marathon (full or 1/2)
Most of these are bigger promotions, and I’m sure there are some smaller ones I have yet to find. Obviously, I will not be running all of them, but it’s a good start to my planning.
