A New Plan

Plan2014mantra

My boyfriend said this to me the other day and I love it! Train to condition your body, eat more of the right foods for maximum health and performance, and sleep to recover and recharge. I’m going to adopt this as my official mantra for 2014!

I’ve had a severe head cold for over two weeks now, putting a kink in my training. When I can’t run, I resort to making lists of races I want to run and planning my running future. I’ve ended up with a crazy idea to try and run a race every month this year! (Stay tuned for aforementioned listing!)

I want to run a marathon in the first half of the year, and I had originally hoped I would be ready for the LA Marathon on March 9. However, my training has taken a backseat for over 2 weeks now. I’m on the mend, I’ve done a few short runs and yoga, but I want to be really prepared for my next marathon. March 9th is just a lil’ too soon for 26.2.

Not a big deal though. Instead of LA, I’ve been looking at a full marathon in late Spring or in to the summer. This will allow me to continue building a strong running base until I set a date. I’m going to focus on half marathon and shorter distance races for the next few months, while simultaneously training for a full. I’ve studied the 2014 race calender intensely, and have come up with a few races I would be interested in running.

I present to you the List, as promised!

January

Hell0, 2014!

  1. I’m going through the same thing, been sick for a week and have had to take time off training. Now I’m rethinking my goal of sub-two hours at my race on February 8th! But hopefully our bodies are in good enough shape that they bounce back quickly 🙂 Feel better soon!

    • Sorry to hear! Something is definitely going around! I’m feeling much better today thankfully. I’m rethinking my sub-2 hour as well, I run in a week and a half and I’m not sure I’m quite ready yet. But there is still a whole year of races to meet this goal 🙂 Rest up and feel better!

  2. Great line-up. We should plan to ‘bump into each other’. Some of these races I am signed up for (RnR SF, RnR Seattle). You should add Bay to Breaker! 🙂 Good luck at the Chocolate race this weekend!

    • Thank you, I’m really looking forward to the chocolate hangover afterward! We should most definitely run in to each other, I haven’t registered for any of the other races, but I’m 99% sure I will do the RNR SF! I went to Bay to Breakers last year, but I didn’t run it..I’m considering participating this year though

  3. Great line up! I’ve done a bunch of those races. I heard a rumor yesterday that if you run 3 California RNR races than you get an extra heavy medal! 🙂 Not sure if you are into race bling or not…just sayin…!! Bay to Breakers is so much fun!! I did it on the 100th running…it was so awesome!

    • Um, I pretty much run races because of bling..I’m not that self-motivated 😉 Thanks for letting me know! I wandered over to Bay 2 Breakers with friends last year after drinking a little too much Jameson so that doesn’t really count.. But I’m thinking of actually registering and running this year, I feel like I have to at least once!
